Twisted Pair’s WAVE Powers IBM Lotus Sametime RadioConnect Solution

Seattle, Washington, USA – November 5, 2008 – Twisted Pair Solutions (www.twistpair.com), a pioneer in unified communications software built to open standards, today announced its WAVE® software has enabled solutions developer partner Knowledgeable and Innovative Technical Solutions (dba KITS), Inc. to create the RadioConnect™ solution for IBM® Lotus® Sametime®. RadioConnect allows customers to significantly increase worker productivity by extending the Lotus Sametime unified communications and collaboration platform to land and mobile radio (LMR) systems. Widely deployed across the globe, Lotus Sametime offers integrated enterprise instant messaging, VoIP, video chats and Web conferencing capabilities with the security features required for business use.

“For too long, LMR systems have been a neglected component of unified communications systems, stifling the efficiency and collaboration of workers in nearly every industry,” said Steve White, Chief Software Architect at KITS. “Recognizing this significant need in the market, we have utilized Twisted Pair Solution’s WAVE  technology to develop the Lotus Sametime plug-in IBM customers need to bring all of their communications pieces together in a single, cohesive system. It’s exciting to be closing this market gap and further maximizing the reach of IBM’s award-winning solution.”

WAVE-powered RadioConnect for Lotus Sametime helps businesses quickly and easily join LMR solutions into Lotus Sametime unified communications systems. With RadioConnect, channels can be configured to display a small popup window whenever an alert is generated. The Audio Activity Graph displays a history of audio received on the channel, a feature particularly useful in those instances when a worker has stepped away from his or her desk. With RadioConnect, remote users can easily dial in from phones and be joined into radio channels. Single sign-on (SSO) for Lotus Sametime users can be configured against various LDAP directories, including Lotus Domino® and Tivoli® Directory Server. Furthermore, RadioConnect can be easily integrated with WebSphere® Portal and its API can be exposed via Web services for process orchestration on WebSphere Process Server.

“The perceived expense and complexity of adding radios into unified communications systems has led many businesses to operate LMR solutions in a self-contained silo,” said Tom Guthrie, President and CEO at Twisted Pair Solutions. “With WAVE, radios can be added into existing unified communications platforms in a quick and seamless fashion. IBM’s customers can now unlock the full potential of their unified communications frameworks by extending the powerful capabilities of Lotus Sametime to any combination of radio assets.”

WAVE is the industry’s only software-based unified group communications solution. Deployed by public and private organizations across the globe, WAVE enables real-time, secure, group communications over the IP network. Leveraging IP networks as a unifying medium, WAVE connects workers who are using disparate and oftentimes incompatible communications technologies, including two-way radios, personal computers, cell phones and IP phones, into a single, interoperable and easily manageable communications system. Twisted Pair’s distinct software-based approach to interoperability allows organizations to leverage their existing hardware resources for significant cost savings. With the WAVE SDK, organizations can customize their deployment to meet unique unified communications requirements.
